Basketball Recap: Sydney Cottrell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heath over Lakewood

Heath was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 53-44 to the Lakewood Lancers. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 47-39.

Heath lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sydney Cottrell, who posted nine points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Cottrell a new career-high in assists. Kailyn Holmberg was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Cottrell wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Heath was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Heath's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Lakewood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-15.

Heath wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-59 loss against Maysville on the 3rd. As for Lakewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-36 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 5th.
