Softball Recap: Piscataquis Pirates vs. Penobscot Valley Howlers
Piscataquis extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the Penobscot Valley Howlers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Howlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 on Monday.
As for Penobscot Valley, the win keeps they at an undefeated 13-0. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Penobscot Valley's part, Charlotte Dube made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Dube was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Allie LeBlanc was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lila Cummings was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Coming up, Piscataquis will take on Searsport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.83 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Penobscot Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Woodland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
