Preview: Floresville Tigers vs. Somerset Bulldogs
Two dominant guards in Samuel Rodriguez and Evan Hernandez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Floresville Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Somerset Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Floresville gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Devine at home to the tune of 64-36. Given Floresville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while Devine is ranked 960th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ryland Parker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Lafferty, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Somerset came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Pearsall by a score of 60-49.
Floresville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Somerset, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-11.
Floresville might still be hurting after the 60-35 loss they got from Somerset when the teams last played back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Floresville was down 34-14.
