The Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack will head out to challenge the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Saint Ignatius College Prep's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Jones as they made off with a 19-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolfpack considering their one-run performance the match before.

Zoe Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anne Crotty, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.
Saint Ignatius College Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep got the win against Oak Lawn on Saturday by a conclusive 11-0.
Ariani Zito made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, IC Catholic Prep let Lexi Russ and Sofia Bucaro run wild. Russ went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Bucaro went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Madelynn Dinino also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
IC Catholic Prep has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Saint Ignatius College Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Saint Ignatius College Prep couldn't quite finish off IC Catholic Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
