Meanwhile, Holly Hill Academy won against Northwood Academy two weeks ago with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Wednesday. Holly Hill Academy beat Jefferson Davis Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-4. The result was nothing new for Holly Hill Academy, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Dorchester Academy, Holly Hill Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Taylor Wright. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Holly Hill Academy got a massive performance out of Abby Burleson, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Brabham, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Holly Hill Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive matches.
Holly Hill Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Dorchester Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dorchester Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465.
