Baseball Recap: Peotone's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Peotone had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Lisle Lions by a score of 12-9 on Monday. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tyler Leitelt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Leitelt was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Lincoln Tierney looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Velasco, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joe Hasse was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Peotone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Peotone's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Lisle, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10-1.
