Soccer Recap: Torres Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Torres after they claimed the first goal on Tuesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of the Madera South Stallions by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Toros have lost by just one goal.

Their goal came courtesy of Leo Monjaras, which was the first he's scored this season.

Torres has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Madera South, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Torres will host El Diamante at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Torres' last seven matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Madera South, they will take on Clovis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Madera South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.
