Basketball Recap: Early Comes Up Short

Early was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 71-37 loss at the hands of the La Grange Leopards.

La Grange's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Mathis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Mathis' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonte Mckenzie, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Early's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for La Grange, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Brownwood the next time they take the court. Early will head out to face Brownwood at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, while La Grange will head out to face them at 10:40 a.m. on Friday.
