Basketball Recap: Ava Mcartor Key Part of Team Effort in Dragons Win

Gretna's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Standing Bear Grizzlies by a score of 44-34.

Gretna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Mcartor, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Marshall, who put up ten points.

Despite the loss, Standing Bear saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylee Vasa scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sydnie Cain, who had eight points in addition to 11 boards and three blocks.

Gretna's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Standing Bear, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, Gretna will venture away from home to take on Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Standing Bear, they will welcome York at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. York will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Standing Bear surely won't give up without a fight.
