Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls vs. Talawanda Brave

The Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls will head out on the road to challenge the Talawanda Brave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Healthy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Mt. Healthy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to Clark Montessori. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Cougars are ranked 230th).

Meanwhile, Talawanda's and Cincinnati Christian's match on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Talawanda turned on the heat in the second half with 28 points. Talawanda was the clear victor by a 47-27 margin over Cincinnati Christian. The Brave didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Mt. Healthy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Talawanda, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8.

Mt. Healthy came up short against Talawanda when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 54-42. Can Mt. Healthy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
