Softball Recap: Mid Valley Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Mid Valley put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Dunmore. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bucks. Considering the Spartans have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Hazelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Adolfson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Krista Cortazar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mid Valley pushed their record up to 7-0-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dunmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
