Softball Recap: Good Hope's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Good Hope came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the West Point Warriors with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Molly Benefield spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Haley Lay and Lizzy Steed did most of the damage at the plate: Lay went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles, while Steed scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two doubles gave Lay a new career-high. Kylee Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Good Hope kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Point only managed two hits.

Good Hope's win bumped their record up to 16-7-1. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Good Hope will host East Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Point, they will take on Russellville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
