Softball Preview: Mt. Shasta Bears vs. Fall River Bulldogs        
        
		
            The Mt. Shasta Bears are taking a road trip to  square off against the Fall River Bulldogs  at 2:00  p.m.  on Friday. Mt. Shasta will be strutting in after a  victory while Fall River will be coming in after a  defeat.
While Mt. Shasta's  win against Weed wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-8  victory over the Cougars  on Wednesday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Bears.

 Kaley Lanier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out eight batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and four unearned) runs off   13  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate,  scoring three  runs and  stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Lanier is  crushing it when it comes to  stolen bases: she's   snagged at least one every time she's  taken the field this season.
 In other batting news, Mt. Shasta let  Kaira Rekhi and  Emily Pigoni run wild. Rekhi  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while  Pigoni  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. Rekhi has been hot for a while, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last ten times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Gracie Heile, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fall River was not able to break out of their rough patch  back in March as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  an   8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Quincy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  defeat the Bulldogs have suffered  since May 3, 2024.
 Fall River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Darcie Range, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Fall River's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mt. Shasta, they now  have a winning record of 6-5-1.
 Mt. Shasta might still be hurting after the  14-4 defeat they got from Fall River  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
