Baseball Game Preview: Effingham Hearts vs. Civic Memorial Eagles

The Effingham Hearts will challenge the Civic Memorial Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Effingham hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Tuesday, Effingham came up short against Highland and fell 5-2.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Waterloo by a score of 7-4.

Tyler Mills made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Civic Memorial has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-18 record this season. As for Effingham, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.

Effingham was able to grind out a solid victory over Civic Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. Will the Hearts repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
