Baseball Recap: Daviess County Panthers vs. McLean County Cougars
Daviess County had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 17-16 to make it four. They fell just short of the McLean County Cougars by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-1 defeat on Wednesday.
Daviess County got a good showing from Parker Wilson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Wilson gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.
On the hitting side, Daviess County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Mewes, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for McLean County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
