Volleyball Recap: Olivia Stewart and Xixi Ocasio Secure Win for Academy of International Studies + How To Watch

Academy of International Studies waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Public Owls. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The win didn't come easy: Hartford Public scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23.

Academy of International Studies was led to victory by XiXi Ocasio and Olivia Stewart. Ocasio had 22 digs, while Stewart had 30 digs, ten aces, and seven kills. Those 22 digs gave Ocasio a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Academy of International Studies was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 17 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Academy of International Studies' victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Hartford Public, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Academy of International Studies will take on CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hartford Public, they will host Comp Sci at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
