Preview: Olympia Titans vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers
Olympia is 2-8 against Dr. Phillips since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Olympia Titans will look to defend their home field against the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Olympia will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Olympia put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past South Lake, posting a 28-0 victory on the road. Given Olympia's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while South Lake is ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Juan Gainous, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt. Joshua Evans was another key contributor, picking up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 37-10, which was the final score in Dr. Phillips' tilt against Jones on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dr. Phillips in their matchups with Jones: they've now lost three in a row.
Olympia has yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Dr. Phillips, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Olympia beat Dr. Phillips 31-21 when the teams last played back in October. Does Olympia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dr. Phillips turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
