Baseball Game Preview: Gadsden Panthers vs. Organ Mountain Knights

For the second straight game, Gadsden will face off against Organ Mountain. Gadsden will be playing at home against Organ Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gadsden has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gadsden is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Organ Mountain on Monday. They lost 12-2 to the Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 18th.

For Organ Mountain's part, Alex Venegas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Venegas gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eric Gomez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Rey Ponce, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Organ Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Organ Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. Gadsden now has a losing record of 5-6-1.
