Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mt. Vernon entered their tilt with McDonald County on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Mountaineers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-15, 25-20.

Averee Swillum was the offensive standout of the match as she had nine digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Swillum wasn't the only good servers: Mt. Vernon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.

Mt. Vernon's record now sits at 12-6-2. As for McDonald County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13-2.
