Basketball Game Preview: Douglas County Huskies vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies

Douglas County is 0-10 against ThunderRidge since February of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Douglas County Huskies will square off against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Douglas County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Douglas County came up short against Castle View and fell 62-49. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Sabercats 19-6 in the first quarter.

Roman Saiz put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 12 points along with five assists and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Henry Shoemaker was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, ThunderRidge entered their tilt with Mountain Vista on Friday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 66-58 win over the Golden Eagles.

ThunderRidge's win came from a few key players Douglas County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aman Binu, who put up 16 points. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Walkowiak, who scored 17 points.

ThunderRidge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Douglas County came up short against ThunderRidge when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 76-63. Can Douglas County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
