Basketball Game Preview: Vidor Pirates vs. Silsbee Tigers

Vidor is 1-7 against Silsbee since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vidor Pirates will challenge the Silsbee Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vidor will bounce into Friday's match after beating Lumberton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Vidor came out on top against Lumberton by a score of 53-44 on Tuesday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Raiders are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Silsbee waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 78-53 win.

Silsbee's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-13. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Vidor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Vidor took a serious blow against Silsbee when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 100-54. Can Vidor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
