Softball Recap: Captain Shreve Drops Season-High Score on Northwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Captain Shreve). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Northwood Falcons on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ella Hendrick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Hendrick was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Aubry Townsend was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ariana Elkins, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Captain Shreve's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Northwood, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Captain Shreve will host Airline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Calvin at 5:00 p.m.
