Volleyball Recap: Vanguard Comes Up Short

Vanguard extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 7-13. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Port Wolf Pack. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolf Pack this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

As for West Port, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 6th.

West Port was led to victory by Samantha Ramage and Keylimar Mejias. Ramage had nine digs and six aces, while Mejias had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Mejias has posted over her last six matches.

Vanguard and West Port could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Knights (ranked 388th) will meet Forest (ranked 83rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Port will face off against Buchholz at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 49).
