Basketball Game Preview: Barr-Reeve Vikings vs. Wood Memorial Trojans

Barr-Reeve has gone 10-0 against Wood Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Barr-Reeve Vikings will square off against the Wood Memorial Trojans at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Wood Memorial will be up against a hot Barr-Reeve squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Barr-Reeve's way against Loogootee on Friday as Barr-Reeve made off with a 59-39 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Barr-Reeve to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Pauw, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Pauw a new career-high in assists (four). Kierson Lengacher was another key player, going 6 of 7 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Wood Memorial came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 59-46. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Chargers are ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Barr-Reeve is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Wood Memorial, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Barr-Reeve strolled past Wood Memorial in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 53-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Barr-Reeve since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
