Softball Game Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

Tarkington will take on Hamshire-Fannett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarkington has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 1.

Tarkington came up short against Shepherd on Thursday, falling 16-3.

Shepherd typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Hamshire-Fannett proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Pirates 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Jade Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Avery Gallier, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The victory got Hamshire-Fannett back to even at 15-15-2. As for Tarkington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Tarkington might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Hamshire-Fannett in their previous matchup back in March. Can Tarkington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
