Softball Recap: Dwight Takes a Loss

Dwight lost against Herscher back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Trojans fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.

Madi Ely spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dori Wilson and Mckenna Woodcock did some serious damage despite the final result: Wilson went 4-for-5 with one double, while Woodcock went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Sarah Parker, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Dwight has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Herscher, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.

Dwight didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-6 loss against Lexington on the 10th. As for Herscher, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Peotone on the 12th.
