            Football Recap: Thomson Bulldogs vs. Swainsboro Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Thomson blew Swainsboro out of the water the last time the pair played, but  on Friday Swainsboro got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Tigers by a score of  44-42. Despite 115 more yards than the Tigers, the Bulldogs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
 Thomson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Markevion Jones, who threw for 321 yards and four  touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 86 yards on only eight carries.  Zay Brinson was another key player, gaining 143 total yards and three touchdowns.
 Among those leading the charge was   Marco Danford, who rushed for 114 yards and one  TD on only 11 carries. Those  114  rushing yards gave  him a new career-high.
This is the second loss in a row for Thomson and  nudges their season record down to 2-3. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.7 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.57 in the others. As for Swainsboro, the  win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
 Thomson will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Laney at 7:30  p.m.  on  the 26th. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 10.4  points per game  this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Swainsboro, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  match,  a  21-14  victory against Crisp County on the 19th.
