Basketball Game Preview: Auburn Tigers vs. Hazel Green Trojans

The Auburn Tigers will square off against the Hazel Green Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Auburn's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Auburn had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 23-point drubbing they dealt Loachapoka on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Indians 64-41. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Indians are ranked 230th).

Antwane Daniels continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 48% from the field on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Ross, who posted six points and nine boards.

Auburn was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loachapoka only posted five.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Hazel Green and Mae Jemison had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Trojans came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 50-40 on Tuesday.

Hazel Green's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Auburn came up short against Hazel Green in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 80-72. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
