Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Marksville

Marksville won against Montgomery on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Tigers beat the Holy Savior Menard Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three games in a row.

Katie Lachney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Lachney was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2025.

Lachney wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aniya Simon, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI Simon has posted since back in February. Kristen Lachney was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Marksville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Marksville now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Holy Savior Menard, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Marksville and Holy Savior Menard will both be playing Oak Hill the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
