Basketball Recap: Pablo Morales Iv's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Soledad over St. Francis

If Soledad was feeling good fresh off their 60-38 takedown of Greenfield last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Soledad Aztecs fell 69-61 to the St. Francis Sharks on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (60), the Aztecs still had to take the loss.

Soledad's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pablo Morales Iv, who posted 18 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Morales Iv's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Pedro Morales Jr, who had 12 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Soledad's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-9. As for St. Francis, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Soledad didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-55 win against Pacific Collegiate on the 14th. As for St. Francis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-50 victory against Gonzales on the 14th.
