Baseball Recap: Derry Gets the Win

Derry posted their closest win since April 25, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Ligonier Valley Rams 7-5. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 9-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jayden Struble looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Mason Fridley was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jon Wasnick, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Derry's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ligonier Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Derry is taking a road trip to square off against Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ligonier Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Uniontown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
