Preview: Northern Patriots vs. Great Mills Hornets

Northern is 0-10 against Great Mills since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Northern Patriots will get right back to it and host the Great Mills Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Northern has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 318 points over their last five games.

On Wednesday, Northern strolled past Calvert with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. Given Northern's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Calvert is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Emmanuel Powell, who scored 25 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zach Miskell, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Great Mills didn't have too much trouble with Oakland Mills on the road on Monday as they won 60-44.

DeAndre Dorsey was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Brooks, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and eight blocks.

Northern has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Great Mills, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
