Basketball Recap: West Memphis Christian Black Knights vs. DeSoto Thunderbirds
West Memphis Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the DeSoto Thunderbirds and fell 77-42. That's two games in a row now that the Black Knights have lost by exactly 35 points.
Carsyn Gore was her usual excellent self, putting up 22 points in addition to eight assists and six steals for DeSoto. What's more, Gore also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kylee Jo Holder, who posted ten points and five steals.
West Memphis Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for DeSoto, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Memphis Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rossville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 16, 2025. DeSoto will take on Tunica Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in DeSoto's favor as the squad sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Tunica Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
