While Middleton put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Columbia. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mekenna Trimmer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Sydney Qualls was incredible, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Libby Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Middleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Middleton's record now sits at 14-2. As for Columbia, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Middleton is set to challenge their familiar foe Bishop Kelly at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.1, the Knights 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Columbia will take on rival Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
