Baseball Recap: Canyon Falls Short of Servite in the Playoffs

Canyon and Servite squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Canyon had to settle for second. They came up short against the Friars, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Comanches couldn't push the score so high this time.

Canyon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chip Mertz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. Chris Windish also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Canyon's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Servite, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-13.

Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Servite, they will take on Etiwanda at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Friars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
