It's playoff time, and West Memphis Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They pulled ahead with a 69-68 photo finish over the Hillcrest Christian Cougars on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Black Knights sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaivyn Carter, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 21 rebounds. Carter has become a key player for Hillcrest Christian: the team is 15-5 when he posts at least ten boards, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jordan Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
West Memphis Christian's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Hillcrest Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
West Memphis Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hillcrest Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Claiborne Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Hillcrest Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.
