Volleyball Recap: Bellflower Comes Up Short

Bellflower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Firebaugh Falcons, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

While Bellflower ultimately came up short, they really made Firebaugh work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 25-14.

Natasha DeVaul paced Bellflower's offense, picking up eight kills. DeVaul got some help from Valerie Rivas and her 23 assists. Finally, Oleevia Nansen kept Bellflower's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Bellflower's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Firebaugh, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bellflower is set to square off against their familiar foe Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Firebaugh will face off against rival Gahr at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
