Baseball Recap: Valders Gets the Win

Valders won against Brillion last Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Vikings never let the Two Rivers Purple Raiders get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Purple Raiders on their field since May 25, 2021.

Carter Valleskey made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over 6.1 innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Valders' success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Valleskey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Ebert, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Valders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

The win got Valders back to even at 5-5. As for Two Rivers, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Valders beat Two Rivers by a score of 5-1 on Thursday.
