Football Preview: Hillcrest Trojans vs. La Sierra Eagles

Hillcrest has gone 8-2 against La Sierra recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hillcrest Trojans will stay at home for another week and welcome the La Sierra Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Hillcrest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 31-26 to Ramona. The loss was the Trojans' first of the season.

Hillcrest might have lost, but man, Alfredo Vences was a machine: he rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Ramos, who threw for 169 yards and a touchdown.

Hillcrest wouldn't let Ramona keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Noah Mayweather was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.

Meanwhile, La Sierra can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 34-12 margin over Saddleback. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their six-point performance the matchup before.

Shawn Childs and Eddie Roy were among the main playmakers for La Sierra as the former rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry and the latter threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Memphis Agosto was Roy's top target, picking up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, La Sierra was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 480 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hillcrest fell to 2-1. As for La Sierra, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
