Basketball Recap: Chilton County Tigers vs. Marbury Bulldogs
Chilton County managed to slip by Marbury the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 88-58. Cayden Meank and Damarien Floyd certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Meank shot 40% from the field en route to 17 points, while Floyd went 7-for-14 on his way to 21 points. Meank is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Thornhill, who posted three points and four steals.
Marbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamar Brown, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. Brown also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Trotter, who scored 19 points.
Chilton County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Marbury, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
