Soccer Game Preview: Livermore vs. Richmond

The Livermore Cowboys will challenge the Richmond Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Thursday, Livermore didn't have quite enough to beat San Ramon Valley and fell 3-2. The Cowboys have struggled against Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Trevor Crouch and Mason Franks scored both of Livermore's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Richmond had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Spartans. Given the Oilers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Spartans are ranked 490th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Richmond pushed their record up to 6-2-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matchups. As for Livermore, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5-2.

Livermore might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Richmond in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Can Livermore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
