Flag Football Recap: Azul Trujillo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Calexico

There's no place like home for Vincent Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 39-26 victory over the Calexico Bulldogs on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Scots in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Vincent Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Azul Trujillo out in front who threw for 364 yards and five TDs while completing 75% of her passes. Trujillo's passing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked her tenth straight game with at least 364 passing yards. A healthy portion of Trujillo's aerial production (117 yards to be exact) went to Jessica Manriquez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vincent Memorial's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lucia Adame.

Vincent Memorial's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Calexico, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.
