Volleyball Recap: Modesto Takes a Loss

If Modesto was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Central Catholic on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against the Pitman Pride on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Pride: they've now lost four in a row.

While Modesto was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Pitman's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-13, 25-20.

Jose Cardenas paced Modesto's offense, picking up 13 kills. Cardenas got some help from Sergio Rodriguez Ismael and his 21 assists. Cardenas was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Modesto now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Pitman, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-8.

Modesto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Downey on the 22nd. As for Pitman, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Enochs on the 17th.
