Basketball Recap: Fletcher Skates Past St. Augustine with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fletcher). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets 67-38. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fletcher found their leader in sophomore Brylee Rains, who went 10 of 23 en route to 34 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rains has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Cross, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points.

Fletcher's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for St. Augustine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

When Fletcher and St. Augustine next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Fletcher will try to stop Andrew Jackson's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, St. Augustine will take on Beachside and their three-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
