Basketball Recap: Freedom Skates Past Alexander Central with Ease

Freedom lost to Alexander Central back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Freedom Patriots simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Alexander Central Cougars 72-44. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 26 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Alexander Central lost, don't look at Jayon Connor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. The contest was Connor's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Garison Millsaps was another key player, putting up five points and nine rebounds.

Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Alexander Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freedom will head out to face off against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander Central, they will venture away from home to challenge Ashe County at 8:00 p.m. on January 31st. Alexander Central is facing Ashe County at the right time seeing as Ashe County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
