Baseball Recap: Loretto Takes a Loss

Loretto fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Giles County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Giles County Bobcats by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Tuesday.

Grant Fisher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Loretto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ralee Ellis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Loretto now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Giles County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Loretto will square off against Wayne County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Giles County, they will take on McMinn Central at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. McMinn Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Giles County surely won't give up without a fight.
