Montverde Academy looking the part of No. 1 early on; White Station, Sunrise Christian Academy coming off big weekends.

Xcellent 25 National Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (No. 1 preseason) Montverde Academy (Fla.), 4-0
Head coach Kevin Boyle's crew has looked the part of national No. 1 thus far. The latest piece of supporting evidence came Saturday night as the Eagles dismantled defending Florida 3A state champ Providence (Jacksonville). Victories over defending Georgia AAAAAA state champ Norcross, Tift County (Tifton, Ga.) and Tampa Catholic (Fla.) came by an average margin of 34.3 points per game.

2. (2) Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), 11-0
The Pilots have vanquished everything in their path early on, averaging more than 105 points per game and winning all but two of their outings by 30 points or more. Findlay swept a pair of games in Canada over the weekend.

3. (5) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 0-0
The Monarchs open Monday at Diablo Inferno tournament in Mission Viejo against a traveling team from Australia.

4. (6) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 0-0
Gorman opens Tuesday at Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas).



5. (7) Prime Prep (Dallas), 6-0
Head coach Ray Forsett put his team to the test over the extended weekend, playing key games in Houston at the Hoopsgiving Classic and closer to home at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest in Duncanville. Prime Prep notched victories in those events over Justise Winslow and St. John's (Houston), Provine (Jackson, Miss.) and Episcopal (Dallas) to remain unbeaten.{PAGEBREAK}

6. (9) Whitney Young (Chicago), 0-0
Whitney Young opens Dec. 7 vs. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) at the Chicago Elite Classic.

7. (11) Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.), 0-0
Paul VI opens Monday vs. Takoma Academy (Takoma Park, Md.).

8. (16) White Station (Memphis, Tenn.), 3-0
The Spartans made an early-season statement Saturday night at the inaugural Lighthouse Classic in Corinth, Miss., hammering DeSoto (Texas) 64-33. The Lone Star State squad was coming off a tournament victory at the McDonald's Texas Invitational and looking like a potential national Top 25 squad. No time to revel in that victory though, as rival Ridgeway (Memphis) looms Tuesday.

9. (20) Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.), 4-0

The Buffaloes may have had the best weekend of any team in the Xcellent 25. At the State Farm Tournament of Champions in Illinois, SCA went 3-0 highlighted by a 68-45 win over then-No. 8 La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.).

10. (12) Roselle Catholic (N.J.), 0-0
Roselle Catholic opens Dec. 20 vs. The Patrick School (Elizabeth).{PAGEBREAK}

11. (13) St. Joseph (Metuchen, N.J.), 0-0
St. Joseph opens Dec. 20 at East Brunswick.

12. (15) Germantown (Wis.), 1-0
The Warhawks opened the 2013-14 campaign with an 87-35 win over Milwaukee Lutheran, getting 20 points from senior point guard LaMonte Bearden Jr. Germantown looks for consecutive win No. 58 Tuesday against Port Washington.



13. (17) Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.), 1-0
The Wildcats have a big week ahead, culminating with a Saturday showdown against No. 18 Miller Grove (Lithonia).

14. (18) Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, Fla.), 7-0
The Apaches got a push Saturday night against American Heritage (Plantation) but remained perfect heading into next weekend's showdown with local rival Providence (Jacksonville).

15. (NR) Quality Education Academy (Winston-Salem, N.C.), 7-0
With impressive wins over No. 20 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and The Rock (Gainesville, Fla.), the Fighting Pharaohs are unbeaten and rolling into next weekend's matchup with No. 5 Prime Prep at the Marshall County Hoopfest in Kentucky.{PAGEBREAK}

16. (19) Northland (Columbus, Ohio), 0-0
Northland opens Dec. 6 at Centennial (Columbus).

17. (21) Mentor (Ohio), 0-0
The Cardinals open Dec. 6 at Garfield Heights.

18. (22) Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.), 3-0
The Wolverines took care of talented Luella 66-55 at the On The Radar Showcase over the weekend. Miller Grove will have to survive a pair of tough region foes leading up to Saturday's clash with No. 13 Wheeler.



19. (NR) Northside Christian Academy (Charlotte, N.C.), 3-0
The Knights notched a win over Theo Pinson and defending NCISAA 3A champs Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point) last week, finally getting the signature victory they needed for X25 admittance. NCA won state titles in 2012 and 2013 while compiling a 62-3 record.

20. (4) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 9-1

After a highly competitive meeting last month, the Warriors will take on No. 21 Carlisle (Martinsville, Va.) once again Wednesday before heading to Kentucky for a doubleheader at the Marshall County Hoopfest.{PAGEBREAK}

21. (25) Carlisle (Martinsville, Va.), 7-1
The Chiefs solidified their place among the nation's elite by topping then-No. 3 Huntington St. Joseph Prep (W.Va.) 72-67 on Thanksgiving Eve, getting a double-double from star sophomore 7-footer Thon Maker.

22. (23) Apple Valley (Minn.), 2-0
Behind the play of future Duke Blue Devil Tyus Jones, the Eagles put up 85 and 86 points, respectively, in double-digit wins over Edina and Minnetonka last week.

23. (NR) Etiwanda (Calif.), 4-0
The Eagles – ranked in the preseason Top 10 nationally by multiple media outlets – breezed through the Inland Empire Invitational last weekend, beating Centennial (Corona) 69-58 in the final. Next up is a trip to the Windy City to take on Tyler Ulis and Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) at the Chicago Elite Classic.

24. (3) Huntington St. Joseph Prep (W.Va.), 7-1
The Fighting Irish hold on to a spot in the rankings despite losing to Carlisle. They responded Saturday with a 127-37 win over Miami Valley (Dayton, Ohio).

25. (24) Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park, Kan.), 0-0
Blue Valley Northwest opens Dec. 10 at Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kan.).



Tough to leave out: Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), North Little Rock (Ark.), Wenonah (Birmingham, Ala.)

Dropped out: No. 8 preseason La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.); No. 10 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.); No. 14 Plano West (Texas)
