Baseball Recap: Sipsey Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wenonah

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sipsey Valley). They put the hurt on the Wenonah Dragons with a sharp 16-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

LJ Cormier and Elliott Lyons made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cormier pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lyons pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Cormier scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Lyons scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Lyons has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ty Crawford and Andrew White did most of the damage at the plate: Crawford scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2, while White scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Crawford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John-Logan Hooper, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sipsey Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-19. As for Wenonah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sipsey Valley beat Wenonah by a score of 20-5 on Thursday.
