Basketball Recap: Ottoville Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Ottoville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They snuck past the Kalida Wildcats with a 55-49 win. For the Big Green, this counts as revenge for the 30-29 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addilyn Huber, who went 7 of 17 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Huber's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Meredith Bockrath, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Ottoville pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Kalida, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ottoville will host Columbus Grove at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Columbus Grove will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Ottoville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kalida, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincolnview at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
