Soccer Game Preview: St. Benedict at Auburndale vs. Lakeland Preparatory

The St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles will square off against the Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Benedict at Auburndale comes in on five and Lakeland Preparatory on four.

St. Benedict at Auburndale barely beat Munford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. St. Benedict at Auburndale's defense stepped up to hand Munford a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering St. Benedict at Auburndale have won three contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Munford with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Diego Hernandez, Luke Swearingen, and Hayden Redding.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland Preparatory). Everything went their way against Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova on Thursday as Lakeland Preparatory made off with a 9-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

St. Benedict at Auburndale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

St. Benedict at Auburndale took their win against Lakeland Preparatory in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Will St. Benedict at Auburndale repeat their success, or does Lakeland Preparatory has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
